LEPPARD, Edward A. Ronald (Ron) - age 97 of Head of Chezzetcook, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 12, 2024. He was born in Redcliff, Alberta to Sarah and Harry Leppard.

Beginning his career as a Canadian Naval Communicator, he joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1946, retiring in 1979 as a Chief Petty Officer First Class of 13 years. Ron was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6 Redcliff, Alberta for 76 years. Ron was assigned to Coxswain duties aboard HMCS Colombia 1974-1976, then assigned to recruiting as a Career Counsellor in Calgary 1976-1979. Ron was also a HAM Radio Operator for over 30 years with call sign VE1AYY. Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by his loving wife, Veda (2006), his eldest son, Edward (2007), his wife, Sue (2024), granddaughter, Jenny, great grandson, Ryan, his youngest son, Wayne (2013) his wife, Sherry, granddaughters, Chelsea and Carly, and his brother, Les (2010). Ron is the last family member.

It would be remiss of me not to mention my second family consisting of my goddaughter, Brenda Guest, her daughter, Kelsie, son, Jordan, and Kelsie’s boyfriend, Zachary Conrod. We spent together all of our special occasions such as birthdays, Christmas, as a family should. I don’t know what I would have done without them. They were there to look after me, all the chores and beyond, these I am indebted to for their love and affection to a lonely old man. The quote “Blood makes you family” is untrue, blood makes you related. “Loyalty, love, and trust” makes you family. Thanks for your love, devotion and assistance for the past 18 years - Love you all and God Bless, Ron.

A memorial service honouring Ron’s life will take place at 2:00PM on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Atlantic Funeral Home (Dartmouth Chapel), 771 Main St., Dartmouth, Rev. James Haughn officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the East Chezzetcook Lions Club.
