STEWART, John Marshall, Lt, O-70166, RCN, died - 06 Dec 1948, No. 1 Training Air Group, HMCS SHEARWATER - Son of Gordon W. and Mary Stewart of Francis, Saskatchewan. Husband of Barbara (née Howe) Stewart and father of Robert and John of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Brother of William, Duncan and Maida of Saskatchewan. Son-in-law of C.D. Howe.

 

Lt Stewart died in a mid-air collision over Halifax Harbour during a training flight.  He was buried at sea.

 

Awards and Decorations:  1939-45 Star, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, War Medal 1939-45, Burma Star and Clasp
