TARASOFF, Frederick, AB, V11626, RCNVR, MPK - 20 Mar 1943, HMCS IROQUOIS - Son of Peter and Polly Tarasoff, of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

 

Able Seaman F. Tarasoff was washed overboard during a gale while attempting to save another seaman and was the Iroquois' first casualty.

 

AB Frederick Tarasoff of Saskatoon was the son of Peter and Polly Tarasoff and was of Doukhobor descent. Frederick was born at Yorkton and was working on the family farm when he enlisted on December 24, 1940 at Saskatoon on Christmas Eve.
