REECE, James Cullen. (Jim) - was born in Ottawa, ON in 1947. He joined the RCN when he was 18, becoming part of Engineering Division Entry #22 and became the last serving Technical Apprentice program graduate. When he was 36, he was promoted to CPO1, making him the youngest CERA, he served on many ships and tours overseas, including CFB Esquimalt (Naden Detention Quarters), NDHQ Ottawa, and his final posting was MARPAC Formation Base Safety as Risk Management Officer. Jim was made a Member of the Order of Military Merit by GG Jean Sauve in 1987, and later the Queen's Jubilee Medal and 2nd clasp to his CD. Jim passed away on 14 Mar 2005 from asbestos related cancer.
