Following in his father's and grandfather's naval footsteps, Terry joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1957. His distinguished service aboard many different warships resulted in his appointment as a member of the Order of Military Merit. He obtained the Queen's Commission and became a naval officer in 1989. He retired in 1994 after serving for more than 37 years. He was greatly respected and valued for his integrity and he will be fondly remembered for his leadership in caring for all sailors' well-being. Terry was very devoted to the Canadian Navy and following his retirement he continued his sense of duty by joining the Corp of Commissionaires which he actively served until his untimely passing.
