STEWART, Laughlin Elwood, AB, Gun Layer, C192, RCNR, Killed - 05 Nov 1940 - S.S. BEAVERFORD - Son of Norman C. and Christy Stewart, of High Bank, Prince Edward Island.
Gunner Laughlin Stewart, RCNR was killed in action on S.S. BEAVERFORD, Nov 5, 1940. He was born at High Bank, P.E.I., where he formerly made his home. He received his education at the Elementary School there and was the first man from Prince Edward Island to lose his life in the naval service in the war. He was reported on November 28, 1940, as killed on November 05, 1940 while serving on a merchant ship. Elwood Stewart was unmarried, and is survived by his family, who reside at High Bank, P.E.I.
