Died: 18 Mar 1995, North Sydney, Nova Scotia

 

BLINKHORN, Arthur - 90, a resident of Harbor View Hospital, Sydney Mines, died Saturday, March 18, 1995 in Northside General Hospital.

 

Born in Sydney Mines, he was the son of the late William and Bridget (Birmingham) Blinkhorn. He was a miner for 48 years and served with the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War on HMCS MOOSE JAW and the NIAGARA. He was a lifetime member of Branch 8 Royal Canadian Legion, a member of the C.B. Naval Veterans Association and a member of St. Pius X Church, Sydney Mines.

 

Mr. Blinkhorn is survived by six daughters, Lorraine Nugent, Sydney Mines, Gloria (Mrs. George Bona), North Sydney, Mary (Mrs. Richard Nearing), Shelburne, Shirley (Mrs. Lloyd MacNeil), Dartmouth, Marcella (mrs. Stewart O'Brien), Auld's Cove, and Doreen (Mrs. John Pentecost), Sydney Mines, six sons, Lawrence, Shelburne, Harry, Bernard and Robert, all of Sydney Mines, Bill, Bras d'Or, and David, Ont., a sister, Veronica Gillis, Sydney Mines, two brothers, Ambrose, Ohio, and Robert, Hamilton, Ont., 38 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

 

He was predeceased by his wife, Agnes, and four brothers, William, John, James and Harry, and a sister, Phoebe.

 

Visitation will be at G.R. Francis & Son Funeral Home today, 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass well be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, Sydney Mines, Rev. Tony MacDonald officiating. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
