In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
RIACH, Gary Edwin - We are saddened to announce the passing of our father, Gary E. Riach, on December 22, 2021 in Hilden. Born on October 12, 1938 to parents Harry A. Riach and Ruby Stanley Riach in Montreal, Que. He moved to Halifax at a young age to join the military (he chose the navy) sailing on many different ships including the HMCS BONAVENTURE, PROTECTEUR and NIPIGON. He retired after 30 years in the Forces at the rank of PO (Petty Officer). Afterwards, he worked in the Halifax area as a property manager to various properties. Dad was predeceased by his wife, Mary Alice Riach; brother, Harry Jr.; sisters, Joyce Bartlet and Lorna Lefevre; and nephew, Ricky Riach (all of Montreal). He is survived by his daughters, Teresa Riach and Sharon Healey of Hilden; and grandchildren, Blaine Wood (Danielle Farrell), Halifax; Cory Barrett (Dayna Robinson), Brookfield; Heather Healey (Riley Fisher), Lloydminster, Sask.; Kyle Healey (Sarah Baxter), East Mountain; and Troy Healey of Bridgetown. He also leaves great-grandchildren, Leo and Melody Healey, East Mountain; Jaxson Barrett, Brookfield; brother, Stanley Riach of Montreal; and many nieces and nephews. As Dad lived at his "happy place" at he cottage, he had many close friends who were like family to him. He enjoyed many good times and adventures on his party boat, wheeler and just simply being at "the cottage". We would like to thank the VON nurses from Lunenburg/Queens County as well as Colchester East Hants for their many years of care. A special thank you to Randall and Brenda Knox for being there for Dad and us. No service or visitation at this time. Cremation has taken place. entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home in Lower Sackville.
