JOHNSTON, Ronald Christopher (Ron) - It is with deep heart ache that we announce the passing of Ronald (Ron) Christopher Johnston, 85, of Upper Tantallon, Nova Scotia. He passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday August 17th, 2021 at the Abby J. Lane Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of his beautiful wife Lillian Anna (Moutlon) where they shared a wonderful and beautiful 58 years of marriage together.

Ron was born June 3rd, 1936, in Goderich, Ontario, he was the son of the late Harry & Marion (West) Johnston and was the oldest of 5 siblings.

In 1957 Ron joined the Royal Canadian Navy at the age of 21 in the fire control division where had an exceptional career that he was very proud of. During his service he worked to achieve the rank of Chief Petty Officer First Class. Also, throughout his career he was responsible for the fire control training at Osborne Head, Nova Scotia and as well held the position of Mess President. Ron retired from the Royal Canadian Navy in 1983. He then took employment with Unisys Canada Inc. where he assisted with software implementation for the new naval ships that were being built at that time until the contract was completed. After his contract with Unisys was complete, he then took a course to be able to prepare income taxes. He then spent his remaining years volunteering with CRA to help those that needed help preparing their income taxes. Ron also oversaw coordinating income tax clinics at the local Tantallon Library. Ron thoroughly enjoyed the income tax part of this life where he was able to assist others who needed help.

Ron was a very dedicated, loyal, loving husband, father, and grandfather. He would do anything for his family. Being with his family was everything to him. We are small in numbers but the amount of love we shared was immense. He was not a man of many words, but we knew he would do anything for his family.

Besides his wife Lillian, Ron is survived by his daughter Debbie (Johnston) Koziel (Joey) and two beautiful grandsons Jakob Christopher Koziel and Ryley Joseph Koziel who he was so proud of and were the apple of his eye. He is also survived by his sister Marilyn Horodelski, brother William (Bill) Johnston (Dee) along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
