SHACKELL, Stewart Willis - On August 9, 2021, at the age of 91.
Beloved husband of Grace Elizabeth Scott (predeceased, June 13th, 2018). Loving father of Kevin (Mary Ann), Kathryn (Ian Witney), Ian (Susan). Predeceased by his sister Sylvia and brother-in-law, Jim Tyrrell. Survived by sister-in-law Barbara Scott. Loving grandfather of Erin (Justin), Anna (Charles), Scott (Jess), Kyle (Jocelyn), Sean (Tracy), Andrea (Kyle), Sarah (Giorgio), Amy (Justin ), Matthew and Hannah. Beloved great grandfather of Peyton, Taylor, Ella, Theo, Fox, Hayden and Tessa.
During his 25-year career in the Royal Canadian Navy, he was part of the commissioning crew of the aircraft carrier HMCS BONAVENTURE launched in Belfast, served as staff officer at the Royal Military College in Kingston and aboard the destroyer HMCS MARGAREE on the west coast. On his retirement from the Navy in 1975 he joined the Northern Program of the then Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development where he worked for 15 years.
A private family service of Thanksgiving will be held at Christ Church Cathedral, Ottawa on August 14th at 11:00 a.m. (Ottawa Citizen 14 Aug 2021)
