VANDALE, Grant - It is with a broken heart that I announce the closing chapter of our love story with the passing of my treasured husband, Grant Vandale. Grant passed peacefully holding my hand on 3 March 2021. Grant was very proud of his Navy career of 34 years 6 months. He retired as CPO2 in December 2001. He served on numerous ships & held several shore postings. Grant was a proud member of the Prince Edward Legion #91 for 20 years, first as a member, then a volunteer, on the executive & finally as First Vice President. He also loved being a member of the Colour Party. The Legion became a second family for him. Grant was a sports fan, enjoying participating & watching all different sports. He golfed, curled, played ball. His time with the Ol'Salts Over 40's ball team, first as a player and then as 'da Coach' was most enjoyable for him. Grant loved his fishing adventures with Steve. Grant enjoyed volunteering & being of service. Together we volunteered with the TerrifVic Jazz Party for many years and he offered to help anyone, anywhere the need arose. We created many memories on our many & varied vacations. We enjoyed cruising places such as the Caribbean, Mexican Riviera, Panama Canal, Alaska, Hawaiian Islands, Greek Isles & the west coast. He enjoyed a river cruise from Paris to the beaches of Normandy, which was of special interest to him. Grant drove our motorhome many times to Saskatchewan, thru parts of the US and throughout Vancouver Island. He also enjoyed our many land vacations, especially the Hawaiian Islands, Mexico & California. Grant was pre-deceased by his parents, Walter & Eunice, twin brother David, older brothers Wayne Wilson & Dale Wilson, mother-in-law Katie, brother-in-law Ken. Grant is survived by his loving wife Millie, his puppy Drake, in-laws Judy, Fran, Maxine & Ken, Donah, 9 nieces & 8 nephews as well as a large, loving family of cousins & friends. I thank all the amazing medical professionals who cared for Grant during his short illness and to all those who offered prayers & support. A Celebration of Grant's Life will be held when it is safe to do so. (Victoria Times Colonist 13 Mar 2021)
