WIGHT, Allan Ernest, Stoker 2c, 40555, RCN, MPK - 22 Oct 1940, HMCS MARGAREE - Son of Frank Harold and Gertrude Wight, of Ottawa, ON.
Stoker Allan Ernest Wight is a survivor of the sinking of HMCS FRASER. Before enlisting he attended a business course at Ottawa High School of Commerce. Allan served first in the Canadian Navy as a victualling assistant on HMCS SKEENA. Nine months ago he was made a stoker and shortly after the outbreak of the war he served on an Atlantic minesweeper. After he recovered from his wounds suffered on the FRASER he was discharged from the Royal Naval Hospital, Portsmouth. He joined the crew of HMCS MARGAREE. He lost is life when HMCS MARGAREE was lost on October 22, 1940.
