MILLS, Archie William, Coder, V50413, RCNVR, killed - 07 May 1944, HMCS VALLEYFIELD - Son of William S. Mills and Alice Mills, of Essex, Ontario; husband of Helen Marie Mills, of Cottam, Ontario.

 

Coder Mills died when his ship, HMCS VALLEYFIELD, was torpedoed and sunk on 07 May 1944 by U-548. Of her crew of 163, there were only 38 survivors.  His body was recovered and he was buried in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, St. John's, Newfoundland.
