WYATT, William Charles (Bill) - Bill passed away on Sept 3, 2018 after a valiant fight with Alzheimers. Bill was born in Plumas, Manitoba. He left the family farm at the age of 17 to join the Navy. After completing basic training he was posted to Halifax, N.S., where he served on both the HMCS Magnificent and Bonaventure as part of the flight deck crew. After serving 5 years in the Navy Bill returned to Manitoba, where he joined the St. Boniface Police Department. He tired of the Manitoba winter and decided to head West. In 1966 Bill moved to Victoria where he was hired on as a corrections officer at the Wilkinson Road Jail. In 1967 Bill returned to policing with the Esquimalt Police and Fire Department, where he worked for 25 years, before retiring as Deputy Chief Constable in 1992. Bill was a strong and dedicated family man. He is loved and remembered by his daughters; Teresa (Duane) Debbie (Tim), Christine (Doug), his grandchildren Tasha, Sarah, Sophia, Isabella, Wyatt, Logan, great grandson Charlie, his ex-wife Carole and his many grand puppies. We would like to thank the Staff at Rest Haven Lodge for the wonderful care of our Dad. There will be a private celebration of life. (Victoria Times Colonist 21 Sep 2018)
