DICKIE, Charles Mcvicar - Passed away suddenly in Penticton, BC, February 13, 1972, aged 49 years. Late resident of 6049 Patrick St., Burnaby. Late member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 40 Penticton and the Amalgamated Transit Union No. 1374, also served with Royal Canadian Navy, Second World War. He is survived by his loving wife Mary; son and daughter-in-law Malcolm and Mary of Burnaby; daughter Karen at home; and mother, Mrs. Ella Dickie; and sister, Mrs. Emmanuel (Marion) Berg, New Westminster; also sister-in-law Mrs. Audrey Dickie, Calgary. Service of memorial Thursday, February 17 at 2:30 p.m. from South Burnaby United Church, 4593 Rumble St. Burnaby, Rev. W.Z. VanDruten officiating, assisted by Rev. H. Irwin. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Heart Foundation, 1881 W. Broadway, Vancouver. Royal Oak Chapel in charge of arrangements.
Charles' brother Neil Dickie also served in the Navy during WW2. Their brother Lance Corporal Malcolm Harry Dickie of the 1st Battalion, The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada was killed in action in Germany on 28 Feb 1945
