Died: 18 Apr 2010, Conquerall Mills, Nova Scotia

 

WISCOMBE, Samuel Andrew - 64 of Conquerall Mills, Lunenburg Co., passed away suddenly at home on Sunday 18 April 2010. Born in Marystown NL, he was the son of the late Herbert and Susan (Hooper) Wiscombe. Sam served his country for 27 years with the Royal Canadian Navy, first as a Radar Plotter and Ships Diver and then as a Physical fitness instructor. He served in many places including on board Canada’s last Aircraft Carrier the HMCS Bonaventure. After his retirement from the navy he drove school bus for the South Shore Regional School Board for 17 years. Sam was a loving and caring husband and an exceptional father; he enjoyed all sports, both playing and watching, and was also a great cook. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Bridgewater Branch No. 24 and a founding member of Osprey Ridge Golf Course. Sam enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved the outdoors. He was involved in the Scouting movement and coached little league baseball for many years. He is survived by his wife and life partner Carole Ann (Cormier); son Mark (Sandra Sofalvi), Edmonton AB; sisters Mary (Wavell) Moulton, Marystown NL; Diane Randell, Manuels NL; Donna, Mount Pearl NL; Aggie (Dave) Petten, Fort Saskatchewan AB; Paula (Gary) Rideout, Fort Saskatchewan AB; brothers Louis (Judy), Marystown NL; Steve (Barb), Armprior ON; Herbie (Brenda), Manuels NL; numerous nieces and nephews; dear Mother-in law Lillian Cormier, Bridgewater and special cousin Billy Hooper. Sam was a collector of many treasures and will be remembered for his being true and faithful friend to many throughout Canada. Visitation will be held 7:00 to 9:00 P.M., Friday 23 April in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater, from where a Legion Funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday 24 April, Rev. Willis Ott officiating. Cremation will follow the service and burial will be at a later date. Family flowers only, please. Memorial donations in Sam’s memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Salvation Army.
