Died: 04 Dec 2019, Halifax, Nova Scotia

 

MCNUTT, Ernest William - age 92, born February 28, 1927, passed away peacefully in Halifax Infirmary, QEII, in Halifax, on December 4, 2019. He was predeceased by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Edna Eileen (Cuvelier); his parents, Ernest Sr. and Angeline; as well as his brother, Charles. He is survived by his daughters, Linda, Brenda, and Karen, as well as sons, Michael and Stephen. He was the grandfather of four and great-grandfather of six. A special thank you to the LLM Health Care and his three very special caregivers, Heather, Christine and Victoria. He served in the Canadian Navy for 25 years where he fought in the Second World War and the Korean War. Upon retiring from the Navy, he returned to school and graduated with his BA and Master's Degree in Theological Studies. Ernie was a very active member in his Church, St. Joseph's Parish as the President of the Parish Council, Eucharist Minister, Lector and he and his wife worked with engaged couples preparing for marriage. He also proudly received the Medal of Diocesan Honor. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christmas Daddies Telethon. Visitation will be held in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., on Monday, December 9th between the hours of 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. His service will be held in St. Mary's Basilica on Spring Garden Road, Halifax, on Tuesday, December 10th at 10 a.m. The Mass will be officiated by the Very Rev. John Williams. A private family burial will be held Friday, December 13th in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville.  (Halifax Chronicle-Herald 07 Dec 2019)
