O'BALL, Peter Nickolous Andrew (Andy) - it is with great sadness that the family of Andy O'Ball, 91 years old, Dartmouth, share his passing on Saturday, October 12, 2019, in Dartmouth General Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Norma (Spruin); son, Andrew G. (Brad Lawrence), Kitchener/Waterloo, Ont.; daughter, Janice (Ritchie), Dartmouth; and son, Norman P., Dartmouth; as well as his grandchildren, Candice and Chris Ritchie, Jenna and Ben O'Ball. Born in Toronto, Ont., he was the only son of Nickolous and Rose O'Ball, both deceased. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by his parents-in-law, George and Anna Spruin (Halifax). He served with the Royal Canadian Navy, Halifax, for 25 years and was a veteran of the Korean War. After retirement from the RCN he worked at the Halifax County Rehabilitation Hospital as a purchasing agent for 17 years. Andy was a long-time member of the Brightwood Golf and Country Club in Dartmouth, along with his wife where they both enjoyed many years golfing and attending social events. When the snow arrived, they would take off to Florida for golf and sunshine. Andy was also an "armchair coach" of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Cremation has taken place. Interment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 19th at 11:30 a.m. in St. Clements Roman Catholic Church, Gaston Road, Dartmouth, with a reception to follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Diabetes Canada, Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, or a charity of your choice. Many thanks sent to the nurses on Floor 4West, Dartmouth General Hospital for their attention and care given to Andy, as well for their daily kindness shown to his family members.
