BRIARD, Kerry Philip - CNAG member. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our wonderful husband, father, and grandfather Kerry. Son of the late Alfred and Mary Briard. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Martha (McNeary), his children Wayne (Denise Desjardins), Cheryl, David (Leslie Gensey), Michael (Lori McGuire), and Lynda, and his grandchildren Patrick, Derrick, Darryl, Melanie and Alexander (Desjardins), Jesse (Kayla), Lindsay and Jessica. Also survived by his sister Diane Vegter, nieces Kelly Cooper and Donna White and nephews Scott Campbell and Donald Bondy. He will also be missed by Goddaughter Erin Beazley and close family friend Brian Cullen. Kerry served 31 years in the Canadian Navy. He served onboard HMCS Magnificent and HMCS Bonaventure. He married his loving wife Martha while on exchange with the US Navy in Norfolk Virginia in 1955. After retiring from the Navy, Kerry worked as a civilian with DND for 13 years. His favourite passion besides his wife Martha was golf. Dad was a member at Hylands and played regularly with his sons and granddaughter Jessica and his Golf buddies. He will be greatly missed by his many friends across Canada. Special thanks to the nursing staff of 5 East at the General hospital and the Doctors from the Ottawa Cancer Centre for their care and compassion. Friends are invited to visit at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue (East of Vanier Parkway), Ottawa, on Friday, September 19, 2014 in the Hall of Colours from 1030hrs until time of Service in the Sacred Space at 1130hrs. In lieu of flowers, donations to the would be appreciated.
