JONES, Hugh John Frederick, PO, 2568, RCN, MPK - 19 Oct 1940, HMCS BRAS D'OR - Born 19 Jan 1911, he was the son of Hugh and Lilla Jones, of Montreal, Quebec. Husband of Jean Marguerite Jones of Halifax, NS.

 

On 19 Aug 1936 LS Jones was commended for high degree of gallantry and seamanship when, as a member of the whaler crew from HMCS SAGUENAY proceeded to the rescue of the 1st Motor Boat of HMCS SAGUENAY at Saint Helier, Jersey Islands

HMCS DRAGON - Left to HMS Dragon from Champlain 25 Apr 1936 - 05 May 1936 and 26 May 1936 - 23 Jun 1936

HMCS SAGUENAY - Served in Saguenay 26 Jun 1936 - 23 Apr 1937 as an A/LS and LS, RCN. Rated LS 01 Mar 1936
