BURROW, William Oliver, LS, V7988, RCNVR, MPK - 29 Apr 1944, HMCS ATHABASKAN - son of William V. T. and Florence Burrow, of Toronto, ON. 

 

LS Burrow died when his ship, HMCS ATHABASKAN G07, was sunk in the English Channel on April 29, 1944.  The province of Ontario honoured Leading Seaman Burrow by naming Burrow Lake in his honour.

 

William's brother, Frank Edward Burrow, also served in the RCNVR during the Second World War.
