From Ian Moore - LOCH ACHANALT's escort group was involved in sinking of U-1006 by HMCS Annan. LOCH ACHANALT stopped to pickup survivors from U-1006 - one of whom named Karl Deeg had shrapnel removed from his neck/back by dad. (I had his dog tag souvenir). What dad did not know was that while LOCH ACHANALT was stopped,  U-1003 apparently fired a 3 torpedo spread at her. Fortunately for me, born in 46, they all missed.
