Formerly named USS SABALO and yacht Breezin' Thru. she was commissioned on the west coast on 11 Sep 1940, COUGAR was employed initially on A/S patrol from Esquimalt, then transferred in May 1942, to Prince Rupert Force. In Jun 1944 she returned to Esquimalt as an examination vessel and was paid off on 23 Nov 1945. Sold to a California buyer in 1946, she resumed her original name, Breezin' Thru, for a time before sinking in a hurricane at Kingston, Jamaica, in Sep 1950.
