Note: Black Rock is the west coast equivalent to Osborne Head Gunnery range, but on a much smaller scale (no live gunnery), it was (is) the only Fleet School Esquimalt that is in Dockyard, not NADEN. All west coast Firecontrolmen from the '60s and onward were trained there, as were new entry NESOPs to present day. The new Cayuga building was built there in the early '80s and has been since retrofitted to EW gear leaving no west coast shore based gunnery facilities available, even the gun was removed a few years ago! Before the Cayuga building all the Firecontrol gear was housed in the shore battery bunkers deep below ground. (Courtesy of Al Wills)
