SLINGERLAND, Laurence George - Served with the Canadian Navy in the North Atlantic during WW II. Of Guelph, passed away peacefully at St Joseph's Health Centre on Saturday, June 26, 2010 in his 87th year. Beloved husband of Laura (Harry) for 63 years. Loving father of the late Sandra D'Amico (2010), Deborah (Larry) Pinkerton, Kathy (Gerard) Meagher and Margaret (Roy) Paul. Loved grandfather of Tara (Warren) Payne, Trevor (Melanie) D'Amico, Amanda and Brandon Pinkerton, Janine (Glen) Oakley, Ryan (Heather) Meagher, Matthew and Peter Hannaberg and great grandchildren; Taylor and Dakota Payne, Evan Oakley and Anthony Meagher. Predeceased by his sister Phyllis Cherry. A memorial service will be held at Duff's Presbyterian Church 319 Brock Rd., on Tuesday, June 29th, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Visiting will be one hour prior to the service. (Reception to follow in Nanson Hall). As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Joseph's Health Care Foundation, 100 Westmount Rd., Guelph N1H 5H8 or the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 204-21 Surrey St. W., Guelph, ON, N1H 3R3 would be appreciated by the family. The family wishes to express their appreciation for the kind and compassionate care provided by all of the staff from St. Joseph's health Centre.
