WOOD, Dwayne - passed away with family by his side at Trenton Memorial Hospital on Saturday, July 4, 2026 at the age of 87.
Beloved husband of Marcelle Closs and predeceased by his first wife, Joan Wood. Loving father of Laura (Rick Fleming) and the late Debbie Wood. Dear stepfather of Mike Closs and the late Cathy Closs-Vandenhoven. Cherished grandfather of Matthew Tinker, Nicholas Tinker (Ali), Tucker Fleming, Haille Fleming, and Kurtis Vandenhoven. Proud great-grandfather of Hannah, Caden, Charlotte, and Mallory. Loving brother to Kay Carney (late Jack Carney), Paul Wood (late Marilyn Wood) and Gloria Connors (Jody Evans). Predeceased by his parents, Stanford and Mary Wood.
Dwayne proudly served his country in the Canadian Navy for 31 years, retiring with the rank of Chief Petty Officer First Class.
A devoted member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Dwayne took great pride in helping maintain and support his church community. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus and the Royal Canadian Legion. Dwayne held a deep admiration for Father Tim Harrison, whose friendship and guidance had a lasting impact on his life.
Dwayne enjoyed travelling, holding a special place in his heart for Canada's Maritime provinces.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday July 11, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. A reception will then be held at Lions Club (77 Campbell St, Trenton, ON K8V 3A2)
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or St. Peter's Catholic Church would be appreciated by the family. (Weaver Family Funeral Homes)
