HOOPER, Paul William - Dearest family and friends - It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of Paul William Hooper, who left us bravely and peacefully on August 24, 2025, at the age of 83 after a sudden illness.

Paul was born on January 23, 1942, in London, England, to Margaret and Louis Hooper. In 1946, he immigrated to Canada with his family, settling in the vibrant community of Little Burgundy, Montreal, where he spent his formative years.

In 1959, Paul proudly enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy. Posted to the HMCS Chaudière, he served with dedication and honour for his Country.

Beyond his military service, Paul’s passions enriched his life and those around him. He was a lover of classical and jazz music and shared his gift of song as a member of the church choir. He was also an avid tennis and golf player, and enjoyed many spirited games of Bridge with friends. Known for his kindness, compassion, and generosity, Paul was always willing to extend a hand to others, leaving a lasting mark on countless lives.

Paul was predeceased by his beloved wife, Carol Margaret Hooper, and his sister Barbara. He is lovingly remembered by his children Kimberly (Jay), Pamela (Bob), and Jason, and will be forever cherished by his six grandchildren: Sierra, Hunter, Sean, Tyler, Jesse, and Ethan. He will also be dearly missed by his sisters Crystal, Suzanne, and Jennifer, as well as his many nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends.

A Celebration of Paul’s Life will be held on October 4th, 2025, at 2:00-5:00 p.m. at Bear Creek Golf Club, 8545 County Rd 56, Utopia, ON, L0M 1T0

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the compassionate team at Simcoe Hospice, whose care and support were deeply appreciated.

Paul’s life was a true example of love, service, and kindness, a legacy that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. (Barrie Today 05 Sep 2025)
