SHORE, Robert Charles - of Eastern Passage NS. It is with great sadness that the family of Robert, announce his sudden passing on February 09, 2026 (Age 88) at the Dartmouth General Hospital. He was born in London, Ontario to John William Shore and Violet Mae (Ivins) Shore and was their oldest Son. He joined the Royal Canadian Naval Air Branch in 1957 (Aviation Technician Engine Trade). He retired with 35 years of service as a Master Warrant Officer. Robert was deployed with air detachments on 13 different naval ships including the Aircraft Carrier Bonaventure. His last posting was as 'Air Chief' on HMCS Skeena with the ship's NATO deployment. Robert was primarily based at CFB Shearwater with his military service. On his retirement he was actively involved with the local Canadian Naval Air Group organization and was the last local chapter President. He was a member of the Somme Branch Legion and a long time member of the Eastern Passage Lions Club. A forever Toronto Maple Leafs fan (no matter what) and a CFL football fan with the Grey Cup game. Given all the travel and sights that Robert experienced with his service and retirement, his best time was sitting in his comfy backyard shed in the summertime, with a good supply of cold beer, a cheap cigar and totally enjoying all his favourite music, especially when family or friends stopped by for a visit. Robert is survived by his loving wife and soul mate of 68 years, Rita (Bambury) Shore with Sons, Robert Thomas (Kerry Ann) Shore, Porters Lake NS, Kevin Wade Shore, Burnaby BC. Sister Linda (Shore) Perkins, Ottawa Ontario. Grandchildren Kyle David Ronald Shore and Evan James (Melissa) Shore. With great pride his great-grand children Laegha Autumn Shore and Rowan Robert Shore. Robert was predeceased by his parents John William Shore and Violet Mae Shore, his brothers Ted and Jack, including stepbrother David. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke foundation. Robert's family would like to thank all who have provided support and comfort at this difficult time. As with Roberts wishes, cremation has been completed by Cole Harbour Funeral Home. There will be a celebration of life, to be announced at a future date. Robert is now on eternal air support operations and patrol (North Atlantic) for Country with the old guard. (The Halifax Chronicle Herald 28 Feb 2026)
