In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
HUE, George Edward Jr. - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of George Edward Hue on December 29th, at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Halifax on November 4th, 1941, he was the son of the late George and Audrey (Blackadar) Hue.
George is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Janet (Miles) Hue; sons Joseph (Joe) and Mark; grandchildren Joey (Chantelle), Jesse (Morghan), Victoria (Daniel), Madison (Marshall), Rachael, and Kate; great-granddaughters Sophie and Sadie Mae; and sisters Beverley, Barbara, and Patsy. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
George grew up on Bayers Rd and attended Westmount School and Queen Elizabeth High. He had great knowledge of history and geography and an amazing memory for dates. Before joining the service, he worked for Zellers, Sally Shops, and Pennington's, doing window displays-and may I add, he was good! Growing up, he had a paper route, which gave him his love of collecting coins. He also loved to hunt and fish with his Dad. George's greatest joy was to be out in the woods, enjoying all nature. Most of all, George was a family man. He was the happiest when we were all together.
George spent 32 years in the Royal Canadian Navy, serving on 9 ships and retiring from FMG on July 1995. The sailor is home from the sea. George had 30 wonderful years of retirement to spend with his family. He had a special bond with all his grandchildren. They only had to call, and he would be there for them. He will be deeply missed. Rest in Peace, my love - Janet.
Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Harbourside Cremation Services. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 16th, at 1:00 pm, with a reception to follow, at Saint Francis by the Lakes Anglican Church, located at 192 First Lake Drive, Lower Sackville, NS. The funeral service will be livestreamed, and the link can be found on Saint Francis's website. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Memorial Gardens. (The Halifax Chronicle Herald 08 Jan 2026)
