PARENT, David William Gregory - With heartfelt sadness, the family of David Gregory Parent announces his peaceful passing on July 29, 2025, at the age of 91.

David lived a life of purpose, principle, and profound service — to his country, his community, and his family. A proud veteran and lifelong advocate for his fellow servicemen and women, David dedicated countless hours to the War Pensioners of Canada, led vital fundraising for Parkwood Hospital, and served with distinction as a member of the Royal Canadian Naval Association (Admiral Hose Branch).

He also served as Liaison Officer for the Windsor Sea Cadet Corps, and was an active member of the Windsor Veterans Memorial Service Committee and the Korean Veterans Association. Through these roles, David helped preserve the memory of Canada's military history while supporting those who served.

In recognition of his duty and service to Canada, David was honoured with numerous awards, including: the Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Medal,  Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal, Korea War Medal,  Peacekeeper Medal,  NATO Medal,  Canadian Volunteer Service Medal,  Korean Volunteer Service Medal and the Korean Ambassador for Peace Medal.

David’s community spirit extended well beyond military service. For many years, he embraced the magic of the season by donning the red suit and white beard, bringing joy and laughter as Santa Claus to residents of long-term care homes. His warmth and kindness lit up every room, and his visits became a cherished holiday tradition for many.

As a passionate golfer, David was also a proud longtime member of the Kingsville Golf & Country Club, where he enjoyed the game, the friendships, and the shared love of the sport. (Families First Funeral Home and Tribute Centre)
