In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
HAYWARD, Larry Allen - It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Larry Allen Hayward, aged 70, in Halifax, NS on Aug 31, 2025.
Larry was born in Dundas, Ontario, Dec 18, 1954 to the late Alice and Walter Hayward, making him an obligatory lifelong Tiger Cats & Leafs fan.
At the age of 25, Larry joined the Navy as a radio operator, bringing him to Halifax, where he met the love of his life, Terri. Together, they shared 45 wonderful years, with their son, Adam. Larry was a strong, resilient, quiet man, who we were sure was part cat, as he seemed to have 9 lives. In his retirement, he enjoyed playing Scrabble with his siblings, Brian and Sandra, spending time outside with his neighbour and good friend, Harold, and watching hockey with his dog, Ollie.
Larry is survived by his son Adam (Sarah), Halifax; brother Brian Hayward, Dundas, ON, sister Sandra "Sandy" Hayward , Penticton, BC; many nieces and nephews, and good friends Harold and Rick.
He was predeceased by his wife Terri (Brown); brother Rodney Hayward, St Thomas, ON, and sister Linda Hayward, Dundas, ON.
In keeping with Larry's wishes, there will be no service or visitation. Interment at sea will take place at a later date.
Donations may be made in Larry's name to the Canadian Hero Fund, or a charity of your choosing.
We would also like to extend our deepest thanks and gratitude to all of the nurses, doctors, and care staff at the VG and Halifax Infirmary who had a hand in caring for Larry over the last year.
