William (Bill) Delaney

Died: 28 Aug 2019, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia

 

DELANEY, William (Bill) - age 72, Dartmouth. On Wednesday, August 28th, 2019, Bill Delaney passed away peacefully surrounded by family and embraced in love. Born on October 13, 1946 in Inverness, Cape Breton to the late John Daniel and Mary Gladys (McNeil) Delaney. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Ruby (Hobson); daughter, Michelle (David), Timberlea, Kelly (Jason), Lower Sackville; son, John Daniel (Teresa), Halifax; grandchildren, Ellen (Derek), Connor, Benjamin, Olivia, Matthew (Tracy); great grandson, Luca; brother, Milton Delaney; sisters, Lorna (Fred) Bushor, Agnes (Jim) Bent and Uncle Billy to many wonderful nieces and nephews. Bill lived his life with true honor, compassion and humour. He spent 34 years as an electronic tech in the Canadian Navy retiring as a Petty Officer 1st class in 1997. He went on to work as a substitute manager with Excel until 2000 and going on to become a Commissionaire on the MacKay Bridge until 2005. Bill was a family man who enjoyed the time he spent with his children and family, travelling, building toys in his workshop, camping, making kids smile and enjoying a great party. As per his wishes, A memorial service will be held 2pm Saturday, September 7th in Atlantic Funeral Homes, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth. Reception to follow. Not one for flowers, except the ones in their garden, he asked that donations may be to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in his memory. A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at the QE II 6.4 & 6.2, Dartmouth General, Dr. G. Hopkins, Dr. B. Howard, Dr. Vaninetti and VON staff who provided exceptional care and support.
