In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
ROBICHAUD, Allain Rene (Al) - passed away peacefully at home. Al was surrounded by his loving daughters Julie and Shelley and his sons-inlaw, Mark and Angelo. Al was born in Chatham Head, N.B. He later moved to Montreal where he enlisted in the Navy at the young age of 18. Al spent the next 25 years of his life serving in the Navy. He was eventually promoted to Sergeant before retiring in 1984. Al served on many ships during his long career, including the Bonaventure. Al joined the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires in October of 2002 where he served much of his time as gatekeeper at the Halifax Dockyards until he went into full retirement at the young age of 72. Al was one of nine children born to Rene and Basilice 'Bessie' Robichaud. He was predeceased by his loving wife of over 40 years, Patricia 'Tricia' MacFadyen; his daughter, Kim; both parents; his brother, Edgar and his sister, Lillian. Al will be forever remembered by his devoted brothers, Aldrice (Micheline) and Ludger (Dawn); loving sisters, Anna Savoie, Cecile (Paul-Emil) Burelle, Lydia, Diane; and beloved children, Julie (Mark) Stevens, Shelley (Angelo) Caffatos Robert (Rhonda); treasured grandchildren, Amanda and Kathrine, Aaron, Shannon and Nathan, Jason, Jennifer and Alexander; and countless in-laws, family and friends who were all blessed to know him. During his last days, Al enjoyed playing cards, winning at the slot machines, darts and pool with the guys at the Spryfield Legion. He was also a past member of the Sackville Legion. Al also enjoyed hanging with his pals (Dennis Jeffery and others) at the cottage, making 'Grandma’s' meat pies and Polish chow with his daughters, and watching his favorite TV show 'The Voice' at home with his family. Cremation has taken place under the care of Harbourside Regional Crematorium. To honor Al and to honor his past service to our country, a special ceremony will be held by the Royal Canadian Legion on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 from 1-4 p.m. in Earl Francis Spryfield Legion, 7 Sussex St., Halifax, NS.
