Cameron William Gallagher

GALLAGHER, Cameron William - died of pneumonia in Ottawa, Ontario at 90 years of age. He was born in Port Nelson, Ontario. Cameron was the only son of Doris Clarabell Gallagher (née Gibb) and George Bell Gallagher. Cam was predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Beth Barry, his wife of 35 years, Helen McKenzie Gallagher (née White), and his granddaughter, Morgan Tara Gallagher. During WWII, Cameron first worked on the construction crew of the Alaskan Highway and then – after enlisting in the Royal Canadian Navy at 19 - served on HMCS Chaudiere. After the war, Cam, who was known for his good nature, became the proprietor of a Hamilton, Ontario advertising company, The Lumberman's Catalogue (which produced catalogues for tradesmen, building industries, and lumber yards). Later, he worked for a hardware wholesaler. Cam is survived by his loving companion of 29 years, Frances Pearson. He also leaves behind three children, Bruce Cameron George Gallagher, Brenda Gail Gallagher (Peter McMullen), and Dawna Doris Moore (John). Cameron's memory will also be cherished by his second cousin, Daniel Gallagher (Shobha), by Doug MacLeod, and by grandsons Lachlan Cameron MacLeod and Patrick Henry McMullen. In accordance with Cam's wishes, there will be no funeral or flowers. Donations may be made to the Salvation Army. Cameron Gallagher's ashes will be scattered at his beloved cottage.
