MAWHINNEY, Hartley Lamont (Monty) - The death of Hartley Lamont “Monty” Mawhinney of Kingston, NB, husband of the late Lillian (Johnson) Mawhinney, occurred on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, he was the son of the late James and Alberta (Brown) Mawhinney. Mr. Mawhinney was a Veteran of World War II, serving overseas with the Royal Canadian Navy and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #58. He is survived by one son, Harold (Sharon) of Clarendon, one daughter, Marilyn Schutz (James) of Friday Harbour, Washington State, one sister, Adelaide McCavour of Lorneville, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one half-brother, Arthur Mawhinney and one half-sister, Helen Huoey. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, January 20, 2006 at 11:00 AM. Interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery, Field of Honour. Monty's nephew, James R. Hoey, served in the RCNVR during the war and his niece Helen Gwendolyn (née Hoey) MacManus served in the WRCNS during the war.
