Died: 01 Apr 2014, Port Perry, Ontario, Canada

 

STURGESS, Shirley Faith (née ROBINSON) - passed away at Lakeridge Health Port Perry on Tuesday April 1, 2014 at the age of 90.

 

She was predeceased by Ross, her husband of 52 years.

 

She is sadly missed by her children Chris and his wife Mary of Caesarea, Cindi and her husband Tom of Ashburn, and Kim and her husband Wayne of Whitehorse, Yukon, her grandchildren Kristi, D'Arci and her husband Al, and MacKenzi Newman, and Jessica, Danya and her husband John, and Victoria Sturgess, and her great grandson Brayden to whom she was known as GG, and her sister-in-law Helen of Red Deer, Alberta and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

 

She was born in Toronto to her parents Catherine and Frank on September 27, 1923. She had an older sister Thelma and a younger brother John.

 

She joined the Navy during the second world war and worked decoding secret messages as a coder/decoder in the WRENs and traveled from coast to coast by train.

 

She lived with her family for over 30 years in Fenelon Falls and worked as a bookkeeper for many of those years. She loved to travel by RV, train or automobile and by plane only when absolutely necessary. She enjoyed doing puzzles and writing poetry and stories.

 

A family memorial will be held at a later date.  Arrangement out of Millbrook.
