In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
LARKIN, Ernest Bennett (Ernie) - passed away peacefully at the Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre on December 18, 2024, at the age of 93. Ernie was born in Five Houses, Prince Edward Island on January 26, 1931, the son of Wilfred and Henrietta (O'Brien) Larkin. He is survived by his children: Catherine (David), Janet (Mark), Brenda (Nancy), Stephen (Karen) and his grandchildren Jessie (Nicholas), John (Aliya), Thomas, and Ryan. Ernie was predeceased by his wife, Robin Anne Grant, and his sisters: Estelle, Theresa, Matilda, Edith and Rita; and his brothers: Francis, Stephen, Louis and Frederick. Ernie served from 1949-1975 in the Royal Canadian Navy, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander. During the Korean War, Ernie served on the tribal class destroyer, the HMCS Huron. His navy career was followed by 16 years as a federal public servant. Ernie's family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Rideau 2 North, who became our father's second family during the last eight months of his life.
