Edwin married Katherine Sweeting on 18 May 1943 at Saint John, New Brunswick. It was later found that she was married to another sailor, Stoker Petty Officer Louis Friesen, whom she married on 09 May 1942 at Lunenburg, Queens Co., Nova Scotia. In an article from an Ontario Newspaper dated 23 Nov 1943, it also lists a man named John Newman Sweeting as her husband.
