LEGERE, John W. (Pat) - Age 90, of Enfield, formerly of Parrsboro passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at the Colchester-East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Parrsboro, he was a son of the late Philip and Edith (Morris) Legere. Pat served with the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) for 22 years, retiring in 1975. Pat was serving on the HMCS Magnificent when chosen as one of the Honor Guards for the Coronation Review of Queen Elizabeth II at Spithead on June 15, 1953. Following his service, he was employed with IMP Aerospace for 16 years retiring at the age of 59. He was an avid golfer, enjoying the game until the age of 88. He was a member of the Airlane Golf Club for many years. Besides golf, he enjoyed hunting, watching baseball and hockey. He is survived by his wife, Althea (Dowe) Legere; a son, Robin (Juliette), Enfield; a sister, Carol Barkus, Quispamsis, NB; daughter-in-law, Sherri Legere, Mahone Bay; grandchildren, Kelly Zseder (Karry Anthony), Gormanville; Rob Legere, Enfield; Meaghan Legere, Halifax; great grandchildren, Aidyn, Pearce, Katelynn, Logan; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, David; a sister, Marguerite; brothers, Peter and Paul. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 1-2 pm at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where funeral service will follow at 2 pm, Pastor Douglas Lake officiating. Burial to follow in St. Brigid’s Cemetery, Parrsboro. Memorial donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada. (Smith's Funeral Home)
