WOOD, John - passed away peacefully. He leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife, of 68 years, Lori, his daughters Nancie Moran (Joe), Sharon Jensen (Dave), Joanne Boomer (Ted). He is also survived by his grandchildren Andrew, Elyse, Tyson, Chris (Des), Jenny (Phil) and his sister-in-laws Dianne Davey and Joan Burge. John was born in Tweed Ontario, the third eldest of 11. Predeceased by his parents Bill and Keitha Pearl, his brothers Arthur and Dale. He is survived by his siblings, Madeline, Merritt, Maurice, Harold, Sheila, Kenny, Linda, Janet and their families. John joined the Navy at 17 and spent his career in Victoria, making life long friends. John enjoyed boating, camping, golfing, and volunteering at the Capital City Yacht Club and the JDF 55 plus Seniors Centre. A private family service has been arranged. Ships served in:

HMCS TERRA NOVA - Served in TERRA NOVA during WestPloy '73 - A deployment to Vietnam as a secondary method of evacuation for the peace keeping troops out of Vietnam near the end of the war.

 

John along with 34 others receiving a special service medal and the peace keeping medal by the lieutenant governor (Janet Austin) in the chamber of the BC Legislature.
