Born: 12 Nov 1936, Timmins, Ontario, Canada

Died: 22 Oct 2024

SPENCER, Edward Lucien (Spence) - passed away peacefully at home on October 22, 2024. He was a devoted and loving husband to Mildred (Strickland) and loving father to Michele Cochrane (Bruce), Suzanne Spencer and Nicole Spencer. He was the awesome Puppy to five grandchildren, Taylor Cochrane Mckeown (Andrew Mckeown), Lindsay Cochrane (Andrei) Spencer Cochrane (Brittany Cochrane), Aalyiah Wolf (Vlad Cherednichenko), and Jordan Wolf and four great grandchildren, Evie, Odin, Cain and Kairo.

Ed was born in Timmins Ontario to parents Lucien and Corrine Spencer. The middle of five children he was predeceased by his older brothers, Donald and Roger and baby sister, Helen. His sister Faye (Kapparis) lives in Ontario whom he talked with weekly.

He joined the Navy as a young teenager and that journey led him to Halifax, where he met and married the love of his life, Millie.

Ed loved sports and was an athlete in his younger years. He played football for the Halifax Buccaneers and was a member of the Halifax Old Timers Hockey League.

Dad continued to work until he was 78 years old, when he finally retired from MacPhee Pontiac after a long career in the car sales business.

His devotion to his family and his wife is beyond remarkable, as he spent the last eight years being care giver to our mom. Nobody could look after mom better than dad and he did it with a smile, patience and so much love.

"We love you and miss you like crazy."

Please join us in a Celebration of Ed’s “Spence’s” Life on November 3 from 4-6PM at the Cole Harbour Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations could be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and or the QE2 Foundation. (Arbor Memorial)
