HOLMES, John Howard (Jack) - Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. No. 6. At the Grey Bruce Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, June 24, 1997. Jack Holmes of R.R. #2, Owen Sound in his 70th year. Beloved husband of Iris (nee Redfern). Loved father of Lance and his wife Debbie of R.R. #1, Shallow Lake and Grace and her husband Mel Pampu of Coquitlam, B.C. Sadly missed by 2 grandchildren Rob and Sandy. Dear brother of Mae Balding and Nora Elliott both of Toronto, Ethel Dunn of Barrie, Marj and her husband Roland Davis and Joan and her husband Donald Hardinge all of Scarborough, Edith and her husband Bill O'Brien and Gordon and his wife Imelda all of Weston and Marie Campbell of Rexdale. Brother in law of Bob Wills, Laverne Holmes, Marie Pollock, Lois Mason, Jean and her husband Bill Grieve, Ted and Tressa Redfern and Colleen Redfern and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a brother Arthur and 2 sisters Elsie Hardy and Doris Wills. Friends are invited to the Tannahill Funeral Home for visiting on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock with Rev. Dr. Brad Clark officiating. Interment, Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Memorial donations to either Thameswood Lodge or the London Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated.
Prior to serving in the RCN Jack served in the SS Manitoulin and SS Norgoma - ferries that ran from Owen Sound, Ontario to various parts on Georgian Bay including Tobermory, Kilarney and South Bay Mouth on Miniktoulin Island.
