PENNER, Herbert Henry - Passed away peacefully, at Forest Heights Long Term Care Centre, on Tuesday, January 2, 2007, at the age of 82 years. Herb was the husband and best friend of Mary (nee Hubert) for 59 years. Beloved father of Debbie and her husband Doug Koegler and Tim Penner and his wife Pat. Proud Papa of Joanne and her husband Mike Roberts, Stephanie Koegler and her friend Ryan Schurr and Scott, Chris and Gillian Penner. He had a special place in his heart for his great-granddaughter, Allison Roberts. He will also be lovingly remembered by his brother, Rudy Penner and his wife Judy and sister, Erica and her husband Rev. Henry Dick. Herb was predeceased by his daughter, Sandy Penner; parents, Henry and Maria (Thiessen); brother, Victor Penner and sisters, Helen Goerz and Anita Carroll. Herb was born in Russia in 1924 and came to Canada as a baby. He was a longtime and active member of Emmanuel United Church in Waterloo. He was a Veteran of the Second World War, having served Canada in the Royal Canadian Navy. Prior to his retirement, Herbert enjoyed a 30 year career as a State Farm agent in Waterloo. He and his wife were avid golfers and enjoyed spending time at their home in Fort Myers, Florida. Friends are invited to share their memories of Herbert with his family at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Herb's life and faith will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Saturday, January 6, 2007 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Bruce Sweet officiating. A reception will take place following the service in the funeral home's Fireside Reception Room. Interment will take place at Woodland Cemetery on Saturday afternoon. Condolences for the family and donations to KidsAbility can be arranged through the funeral home, 519-745-8445.
