Died: 08 Apr 2024, Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia

 

GORTON, Jack - of Hammonds Plains, NS, passed away peacefully in his home on April 8, 2024 at the age of 73. He was the much-loved son of Wilfred (Jane) Gorton and Elva Mary (Claire) Smith.

 

Jack was born in England and came to Canada at a very young age. He served in the Canadian Navy on the HMCS Protector From 1969 -1976, where he then entered a career of welding and shipbuilding until retirement. He picked up the love of running many years ago and participated in several different charitable marathons. He enjoyed gardening; was an avid golfer, a skillful wine maker and loved spending time with his family and friends. Jack liked to travel as well, and was always game for a road trip.

 

He is survived by his daughter Debra (Lance); grandchildren, Amanda, Austin (Darby), and Zaceri; great grandchildren, Zeke, Emmett and Amelia. Brothers Dave (Rose), Fred (Penny), Glenn (Pam), Tom (Debbie), Rob (Beth), Art (Tammy) and Pete (Nicky). Sisters Linda (Neal) and Kathy. Several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Cremation has taken place; a celebration of life will take place at a later date. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
