Died: 29 Nov 2006, Huntsville, Ontario

 

JOHNSON, George Douglas - Suddenly at the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 in his 87th year.

 

George Johnson, beloved husband of the late Dorothy Johnson and the late Dorothy Grosvenor-Johnson. Loving father of Nancy Horne (David) of Burlington, Sharon Janushewski (Nick) of Whitby and stepfather of Lee Griffiths (Robert) of Washago, Tom Grosvenor of Hamilton and Jack Grosvenor (Glenda) of Burlington. Cherished grandfather of Karen, Kathy, Michael, Carrie, Brandon, Trevor and Ryan and great-grandfather to Calvin, Ian and Scott.

 

Predeceased by his parents John and Sarah (Strudwick) Johnson, two sisters and five brothers.

 

Fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and his many friends in the area, Burlington and his Ship Mates.

 

George was a proud Naval Veteran who serve in HMCS OTTAWA and HMCS MATANE and other ships between 1941 and 1945.

 

George was recognized as Burlington Citizen of the year in 1963.

 

The late Mr. George Johnson will rest at the Moore's Funeral Chapel, 9 Paget Street, Sundridge on Friday, December 1, 2006 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.  The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #467, Sundridge will conduct a service in the Chapel on Friday at 6:30 p.m.  Funeral Service will be conducted in the Chapel on Saturday on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at 1:00 p.m.  Interment at the Greenwood Cemetery, Burlington on Monday, December 4, 2006 from 10:30 a.m. to the time of the Committal Service at 11:00 a.m.

 

If desired, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
