John William (Jack) Henderson

Died: 13 Feb 2024, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia

 

HENDERSON, John William (Jack) - It is with profound sadness that the family of Jack Henderson, age 69, of Cole Harbour announce his passing on February 13th, 2024 at Dartmouth General Hospital surrounded by family.

 

All who met Jack will remember the way he made them feel through his kind heart, his sense of humour and generous disposition. His laugh will forever remain in our hearts.

 

Jack was blessed with a gifted set of hands which showed greatly in his artwork through many mediums. Most well known for painting, he captured and appreciated nature's beauty. Jack was a lifelong learner and very wise man. You could always find him with his head in a book reading up on his diverse array of interests in photography, yoga, spirituality, astronomy, science, technology and history.

 

Jack was a veteran, serving in the Canadian Armed Forces Infantry in his younger years and spent the majority of his career in the Royal Canadian Navy. Jack served as a Leading Seaman, specializing as a Sonarman on the HMCS Athabaskan and HMCS Margaree.

 

Jack is survived by his wife Anna (Misener); daughter, Jana (Taylor) and so, Julian. He is also survived by his mother, Marie (Douglas) Henderson; brother, Jimmie (Isabel) Henderson; sister, Elizabeth (Jamie) Craig; nieces and nephews Julia, Jeremy, Jessie (Charlie), Janie (Greg) and Jean, and brother in law, Dale Misener.

 

Jack was predeceased by his father, John Henderson; grandparents, Frank and Janie (MacDonald) Henderson; William and Jean (Sutherland) Douglas; uncle, Gerald W. Douglas and father and mother-in-law, Clyde and Eva (Conrod) Misener.

 

A visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 20th, 2024 from 6:30pm-8:30pm at Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St, Dartmouth. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday February 21, 2024 A 1:00pm at The Anglican Church of Saint Andrew, 2 Circassion Dr, Dartmouth, with a reception A follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jack's memory to VETS Canada.
