Jack was a proud Canadian and was very glad to serve in the Royal Canadian Navy from April 1942 until October 1945. He was at sea a total of 731 days aboard the HMCS Sarnia, the HMCS Collingwood and the Royal Navy Ribble.

Jack liked nothing more than to have a group of people visit at the family cottage on Black Lake, Ontario. The more the merrier. If he was able to catch a couple of small mouth bass that would have made for a perfect weekend.
