In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
MATTHEWS, Roger Whiteside - passed away peacefully after a short but hard fought battle with cancer at home surrounded by the love of his family. Dear husband of Diane (Dover) Matthews for 63 years. Cherished father of Jane Matthews, Catherine Matthews, and the late Linda Matthews. Loving grandfather of Katelynn Matthews and James Matthews. Brother of Christopher Matthews (Kathy). Predeceased by his parents, Paul and Dora Matthews. Roger attended Trinity College School in Port Hope. He later trained in the navy with the University Naval Training Division. After attending McMaster University in Hamilton, he joined the family firm as a stockbroker for many years before moving to his country home in Kenilworth. He loved life at the farm and at the family island near Parry Sound. A service for Roger will be held at Carfrae Chapel - Mount Pleasant Mausoleum - Mount Pleasant Cemetery Toronto on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at the family gravesite.
