In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
ZBORIL, Ronald Martin - Passed away peacefully in his home on January 20, 2023 at the age of 78, after finally succumbing to Alzheimer's disease. His family was by his side to see him off on his new journey. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary Hruboska, and he is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ursula and his daughters Andrea (Scott), Tanya, and Natalie (Andrew). Ron was born in Toronto, Ontario and joined the Royal Canadian Navy at the age of 20, to see the world. He served for 10 years as a helicopter pilot, and an instructor pilot. After leaving the navy, his sharp intellect and sense of justice led him to complete his law degree. His adventurous spirit still alive and well, he spent the summers as a helicopter bush pilot, fighting fires in Canada's North. After law school, the family moved to Cambridge, Ontario where Ron set up his law practice, practicing with the integrity and principles he stood so strongly for. He retired from his law practice in 2012. Ron had a strong community spirit and joined several clubs over the years including the Knights of Columbus and Rotary to name a few and was a proud member of the Preston Legion. He always missed the comradery of the military and found it in re-enacting the American Civil war, the War of 1812, and the French and Indian war. Ron will be deeply missed by his family and friends. To honour his wishes there will be no visitation or funeral and cremation has taken place. He will receive a Naval burial at sea, off the coast of Nova Scotia in the spring. Condolences may be sent to the family through the Lounsbury Funeral Home. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Royal Canadian Legion, Preston Branch 126 (Cambridge), would be greatly appreciated. (The Cambridge Times 02 Feb 2023)
Ronald's ashes were committed to the sea from HMCS SACKVILLE on 05 May 2024
