SCHILLER, Lawrence (Larry) - On Friday, February 5, 2016, Lawrence Schiller passed away peacefully at the age of 96. 

 

Left to cherish his memory, kindness and joy is his wife, Therese; children: Madeleine Schiller, Diane (Ed) Berge, and Michael (Brenda Ison) Schiller; grandchildren: Therese (Michael) Shappka, Sarah Berge Auger, Miranda (Andrew) Galler and her mother Sophie (Al) Nathanail, Stephanie Kenney (Robert Jones) and Dan Kenny; great- grandchildren: Taylor, Daniel and Emily Shappka, Jayden and Kaylee Auger (and their father Jody Auger), Mya and Haley Galler; sister: Teresa Leeder of Calgary; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

 

He was predeceased by his parents: Albert and Eliza Schiller; siblings: Greg, Vincent, Ed, Arnold, Betty, Pat, Loretta and all their spouses. Larry worked delivering groceries on a bicycle to support his family while finishing school then joined the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII. After the war, he worked at Ashdowns, where he remained (through several business name changes) until he retired at the age of 65.

 

His family was his love and joy. All his grandchildren and great-grandchildren have many special memories with Grandpa.

 

At the family's request, there will be a private Celebration of Life.

 

Donations may be made to the charity of one's choice in memory of one of the most generous, kind and compassionate men. (Edmonton Journal 10 Feb 2016)

 


 

Larry was serving in HMCS ALGOMA when his brother AB John Vincent Schiller was lost at sea from HMCS IROQUOIS
